SMCX Mission Statement

The Troiano family along with the Heroes Cycling team and Speedway Wheelmen seek to raise awareness about the St. Mary's Child Center (SMCC). SMCC feeds, nurtures, educates and provides a loving environment for approximately 350 at-risk 3-5 year old, pre-school children annually. There are at least an additional 10,000 children in Indianapolis who could benefit from services provided by SMCC. We have partnered with the OVCX series to do this and provide a healthy family-oriented activity for the Ohio Valley region. This race is purely a fundraiser.

Information

USA cycling license required. You can ride your mountain bike but ineligible for prizes. Visit www.OVCX.com for series rules and updates as well as this website. Registration is through www.BikeReg.com. There will be an additional $10 registration late fee on September 26, 2012. Registration starts at 9:00 AM on September 30th, 2012. Seven female/five male toilets near registration.

Race Report

The second annual SMCX proved to be as epic as the first. We had quite a lot of rain, testing everyone’s bike handling skills... Oh yea ….the racing was cool too..

Beer

Beer is available 250 yards from the Fort entrance at Triton Brewing Company, 5764 Wheeler Road, 46216. Adult racers ( 21 and older) get a free glass of beer compliments of Heros Cycling Team at the micro-brewery. Use your race number as currency.

2012 News

This year we are back to the original course with a tweak. There will be a moderate climb and moderate amounts of technical skills and importantly excellent spectator viewing.

• Lost and Found. Please return any found object or report a lost item to the registration desk.
• Bike Cleaning. There will be a hose to clean your bike behind the restrooms at the bottom of the hill.
• Housing. The housing at the Fort is a real value. The officer's home sleep up to 9 and cost less than $330. The single rooms were recently renovated are unique.
• Food. Mobile kitchen by Duos with emphasis on locally grown organic produce will be there from 10AM to 4PM. At the Fort (The Garrison) there is all you can eat catfish fry Friday and Saturday evenings for $10.
• Nightlife. Broad Ripple is the bohemian quarter in Indy and is truly happening. It is 15-18 minutes from the Fort. Just be ready to race...

DTTT’s

New this year is the Krytonite sponsored Dr Troiano’s Trash Talking Throwdown-DTTT’s. Whoever good-naturedly challenges another racer and makes good on the challenge wins the prize. Please no profanity. These are usually high quality bike locks.
